Welcome to My World! (01/11/08)

January 16, 2008 / by daboyz

Aloha, David and I had the opportunity to attend the Silent Weekend event with Deaf and hearing friends. It was an action-packed weekend filled with laughter, learning and language - only in ASL, of course! We learned more about ASL and the Deaf World in the company of Deaf and hearing friends. We were signing until our eyes fell out and our arms popped off!! We were up at YMCA Camp H.R. Erdman on the North Shore of O'ahu!! Really had a fantastic time even though it was a lot of hard work!! Okay, I didn't count but are there more hard of hearing (is the term 'deaf' PC?) women than men or was your camera just pointing more at women? Statistically are their more hearing disabled women than men?
    Just curious.

We definatley had 3 times more women then men. Not sure if statistically women are more prone to deafness or not. PC term for Deaf is Deaf or deaf. Hard of Hearing and the Hearing of course. Deaf with a capital D means culturally deaf. Deaf with a little d means you can't hear

could of sworn I commented on this. PC Terms: Deaf, hard of hearing & hearing. Yes their were 3 times more woman then men their. But more woman become interpreters than men do.
